Reading a break without rewriting history
A single wick through a rising line is not automatically a trend change. In Nuggetty classes we insist on a closing basis that matches the timeframe of the line: a daily trendline waits for a daily close, not an exciting midday print.
After a candidate break, leave the old line on the chart for several bars. If price reclaims the boundary and resumes along the prior path, you have information about noise. If price accepts the other side and the old rail becomes resistance or support from the opposite direction, the break has earned a rewrite.
Channel breaks follow the same patience. Escaping the upper rail of a rising channel can mean acceleration — or exhaustion. The bars that follow, and whether a new swing sequence forms, matter more than the first dramatic candle.
